Go to "Computer" then right-click your readyboost device and choose properties.

Under the readyboost tab select "do not use this device".

If you just delete the cache Vista will keep creating a new one.

You can also vary the amount of room the readyboost cache uses so you could use it for storage and readyboost. 1.5x your ram or a minimum of 512mb is recommended. I have 4GB stick and use 3.2GB for readyboost and the rest for files.

Nice thorough article here. No two thumb drives are created equal!

I'm just trying to delete the readyboost cache file off a 1GB stick I have because I want to use it for other things. Any ideas?
